It doesn’t seem like anyone has posted on this forum in a while, but I thought I might try my luck here.
Here’s some examples of my personal work. I would greatly appreciate any feedback or advice. Currently I’m still a student, but I’m wondering where to start looking for storyboard jobs, especially online.
Thanks, Sam Koford
You have some really strong boards and it’s clear you have the penmanship to take a vision to something nice and cleaned up.
The “space” scene doesn’t do anything for me – perhaps it is SO cleaned up I interpret it as inked comic book pages and not a blueprint for shooting a scene.
Bigfoot is very interesting and arguably better done. Even in your rougher previous pass, I can see your thought process and understand you were thinking about how he will jump into the water, additional angles etc. (I’m curious how you came to eliminate certain shots) Also, because the subject matter seems more fictional, I can imagine this as a cartoon, 3d, or clay. In other words, the boards are loose enough that as a director I can effectively use them as guidelines to frame my shot.
Hope that helps!
Thank you for the fantastic feedback! A lot of the changes I made were because of constraints to the assignment and what the instructor wanted, but that’s how it always is. He worked in advertising, and liked things very tight.
Thanks for the advice, this helps a lot.
