This is my first post ever 🙂
If anyone would be kind enough to review my Animatic, I would like to get some feedback on it. Greatly Appreciated.May 10, 2013 at 2:59 AM #6164
That was really neat man.
what software did you use?
how long did it take you?
what other online training/resources besides storyboardart.org do you recommend?
I thought your shot choices were pretty good. It felt slight long, but i didn’t mind it. I like this kind of pacing personally.

Hi this is pretty good,
I think your drawing skill is very good and already hit the professional level.
I like the appeal of the character its very clear and entertaining.
The story is very simple and nice, but i think it’s a bit boring since the most shots stuck with medium shots over the hip and feels very stagy. maybe you can mix it up a bit. for example during the conversation the camera slowly getting closer and closer to the characters to create the feeling of intimacy. and then when the character disengage the conversation you can cut to a wide shot or somethin.
So far its pretty good! i think you have the drawing skill already ( which is the most difficult part ), i think right now its all about learning how to pace a story, choose a more dynamic shots and editing.

Thank you for the feed back. I use mostly Photoshop and assemble the pics in Premiere. I am copying the storyboard style I see the Dreamworks guys use in their tutorials on youtube. And I’m a huge fan of Toby Shelton’s storyboards. I guess my main question now with the feedback is ‘how do I keep a balance between mixing up the shots and economizing the boards. I know Sony is BIG on shot economy, so are most T.V. Animation studios like Nickelodeon, Warner Bros and Cartoon Network.May 10, 2013 at 5:44 PM #6167
Hi @knightvisuals here is another write up we got from our facebook followers:
Norm Quiros -try a little shot variance, between :59 and 1:08 is a long awkward silence, you can put some story in there (close up of glasses being cleaned, over the shoulder shot of old man close up sighing, etc. also reference this movie everyone seems to know. If she’s just come out of the opera, give us an establishing shot or two (shot of the marquee, followed by shot of exit w/ other people also exiting. right now looks like she’s at a market in italy or europe somewhere. good idea, try lots of different thumbnails and edit it without the music; add it in after you have paced it out.
Hope it gives you some ideas. Keep going!
