Had a lot of issues getting this one out. Tried out a handful of things.
-Started the assignment on paper: As Mark suggested, I noted better line quality when not dealing with vectors all the time, but heavily SLOWED the process. On paper, there are a lot of lazy moments due to lack of copy&paste so lest I waste time compositing everything, I used a lot of S/A (implied same-as preceding) panels where the BG & details drops out. Plus on paper, I’m less willing to play with any camera moves. But I started the assignment knowing what kind of shots I wanted after going through the ambiguously worded script, so I knew I’d be better off going digital if I wanted to get certain shots down.
-CG elements: Toonboom’s Storyboard Pro 4 lets you import and play around with cg elements. I forgot it was there, so I decided to test its benefits.
-Rotating Camera Shot: I wanted the camera to swing around Javi to reveal the police, but I couldn’t plan it that well on paper, so I jumped to digital.
-Dialogue: I usually dropped dialogue and any words from the previous project, because exporting panels with captions/words complicated the panel-export process. Storyboard Pro 4 lacks a preview screen for exports and has a terrible export interface, so the process sucked (a lot of time out of the days).
Also had some (recurring) forum-login issues. So yeah. Pretty late, but here it is. Sorry it’s just a giant pdf and isn’t laid out better.. Some panels may be too small… If it’s an issue i’ll try to come back to it if I have time (but I may not, since I find myself not revisiting old assignments.)
(Learned a bunch of shortcuts that helped to allow better previews and exports; pretty happy about this discovery) Should read better now.
